Responsibilities
The Building Inspector is responsible for the inspection of commercial and residential buildings including:
- Structural elements
- Plumbing
- Heating and cooling
- Electrical systems
- Safety and Health
Other responsibilities of the Department include:
- Issuing building, excavation and demolition permits
- Checking plans
- Inspecting residential property for occupancy
- Inspecting housing complaints
- Maintaining special inspection reports
- Jurisdiction
