Trash Service FAQs

Who is my trash pick-up service provider?

As of January 2022, Waste Management (also known as WM) is the exclusive solid waste provider for all single-family homes within the City of Normandy. WM can be contacted at 314-506-4700 for the local office or 866-909-4458 to speak to a customer service representative.

How do I set up service? How do I pay?

Residents may set up service by calling WM at 866-909-4458. All billing for service is done quarterly directly by WM. Payments can be on the phone, by mail, or made online at www.WM.com.

When is pick up?

Collection for all single-family homes is on Monday of each week. Residents should place their waste containers at the curb Sunday evening or by 6:00AM Monday morning. Empty storage bins should be returned to their designated storage location by Monday evening.

WM will pick up trash, recycle, and yard waste on Tuesdays after the following holidays that fall on a Monday.  (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Christmas Day)

What type of waste is included in pick-up services?

Trash Can and Recycle (Monday) - Lids on bins must be closed when taken to the curb. Placement of bags outside of your Normandy or Waste Management bin is prohibited. New trash bins or additional trash bins are available by contacting WM at 866-909-4458. All bins need to be spaced 3 feet apart at the curb from all objects (cars, trees, mailboxes, etc.) with wheels facing away from the street.

Yard Waste (Monday) – WM will pick-up yard waste that have been placed in 30 gallon paper bags (up to 12 bags in a single pick-up) or in reusable containers explicitly marked as containing yard waste (up to 6 personally owned cans)

Branch Bundles (Monday) – In addition to Yard Waste containers, branches that have been bundled using string/twine can be collected on regular pickup days. Branches must be less than 6 inches in diameter and no more than 4 feet long. Bundles can be up to 18 inches around.

Bulk Items (Monday) – up to 2 items with a total weight of no more than 200lbs may be picked up weekly.  If bulk items are not picked up, call 866-909-4458 and register them to be picked up the following week. 

Valet Service (Handicapped Residents Only) – Residents with medical or mobility issues that would prevent them from taking trash to the curb may be eligible for Valet Service. What if my trash isn’t pick-up?

Missed pick-ups, while frustrating, may happen on occasion. Common causes of missed pick-up are driver error, late or unpaid trash bills, obstruction or misplacement of containers, or severe weather. If waste is not picked up by Monday evening residents can report a missed pick-up by calling 866-909-4458. Reported missed pick-ups will generate a ticket # which will help in keeping a record of service issues.  Ask for your ticket # to keep a record of your complaints.
